What a beautiful mythical narrative, Metrical. I adore the fact that you used limericks as your stanza template, switching anapestic for iambic. Chaining the extra line to the next stanza was superb to read.

As I said elsewhere, I did not deliberately model the stanza form on the limerick. But now I can’t unsee the similarity! It’s the envelope rhyme + line length variations that make it look quite similar. Not intentional though.

This is cool. The envelope rhyme and enjambment give it a lightness (form enacting the griffin flying??) that’s subtle & quite well executed.

Rather like the language here:

“With wing-beats swift and strong /

It launches into air — /

The hybrid thing “

It feels like the best kind of nursery rhyme, or perhaps a tale told around a fire in front of the mountains. Fantasy story telling. Evocative. Great work.
